Oho! Enhän huomannut ajatella että Putos on tarkoittaa homoseksuaalia (halventavasti) monikossa.

I suppose it is not uncommon that the young couple and the parents-in-law don't understand each other perfectly... so when the father-in-law called and asked his son-in-law in Finnish to talk with his daughter, we can only hope for the best. Señor Lopez momentarily failed to remember that he was married to a woman who speaks strange language. He suggested to the old man, YOU HAVE A WRONG NUMBER, speaking loudly and clearly as one ought to do when communicating with the foreigners and hard hearing - it helps them to understand better, simultaneously whispering to his wife, I think it's some African. After some frustrating moments on both ends it finally dawned to Señor Lopez with whom he was talking, and the phone was passed on to me.Despite the fruitless phone conversations, the situation could be ideal: without a common language there can hardly be any disagreements. However, one has to watch out. When Señor Lopez traveled all the way to Finland to ask the hand of yours truly, I had to train him not to blurt out words like güera, especially when referring to myself in the presence of my father. The word means blonde in feminine, but sounds very disturbingly similar as a Finnish word for prostitute, huora.
These precautions cannot take place the other way around, since Señor Lopez's Finnish skills are quite non-existent. This may lead to situations as follows. Sitting in a corner of a Mexican restaurant I was playing the fun game of Bebecito dropping a toy, mama picking up. After about tenth time I exclaimed Oho! Putos! (Oops! It fell!) Señor Lopez came to me with a concerned expression on his face. Could you please keep your voice down, he pleaded, the people are starting to stare. Only then it occurred to me that Putos in Spanish means gays, and is a very offensive word indeed.

Meidänkin perheessä on käynyt tuo putoaa juttu, tosin kummisetä rannalla kertoi kovalla äänellä jollekin myyjälle miten lentokone PUTOaa jos laittaa laukkuun liian painavaa tavara....
